Clinics and Services

All GP practices are contracted to provide “essential services“, that is, basic treatment of ill people. We also provide the following additional services/clinics :

Treatment of disease,
Weight Management,
Flu Clinics,
DMARD patients.

Other services

Ante Natal Clinic – weekly on a Wednesday led by midwives from Wishaw General Hospital

Child Health Surveillance – held Thursday pm

Adult Immunisation – Travel advice and vaccinations are available.(Contact reception for information). From October every year we run a Flu clinic for the elderly and those with chest & heart problems who require a Flu vaccination.

Cervical Smears – These are done by the practice nurses or doctors. They should be performed every 3 years. Please do not ignore the correspondence for this.

On-Line Services –  It is now possible to order repeat prescriptions and book appointments on-line. If you are interested in this service please contact reception for further information.

Text services – We now offer a text appointment reminder service, this enables us to send a text message reminding you of an appointment that has been booked. This helps to cut down the number of appointments which are not attended. In order to benefit from this service we require an up to date mobile number.  Please ensure all details are up to date with reception.

Home Visits – If possible please try to telephone before 10am.  A doctor or nurse may phone you back as it may be that your problem can be dealt with by telephone advice, or that it would be more appropriate to send a nurse, or indeed arrange a hospital attendance.  House visits are only available for patients who are housebound because of illness or disability. Please remember that several patients can be seen in the practice in the time that it takes to make one home visit.  There are also better facilities for examining and treating patients in the Health Centre.

Repeat Prescriptions – Please telephone between 11am and 2pm or complete a request form (the tear off page opposite your last prescription) and put it in the “post box” just inside the surgery entrance. Prescriptions will be ready for collection at the surgery the following working day or alternatively you can arrange for the regular chemist to collect the prescription for you. The prescription will then be available for collection at the chemist in 48 hours.

Test Results – If you have had tests eg bloods or X-rays carried out by the practice you can call the surgery between 1.30pm-3pm for these results. Please note the practice has a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. We will only release test results to the person to whom they relate unless that person has given prior permission for the release of the results or they are not capable of understanding the results.
